Iconic Winrock Mall redevelopment is on schedule with completion expected by 2018. The former Winrock Shopping Center is being transformed into the mixed-use “Winrock Town Center,” continuing to provide a boost to the New Mexico construction industry.
Current demolition is making way for a 95–unit, two-level parking garage which will accomodate 1200 square feet of retail space above. This construction is estimated for completion in late 2016, with Nordstrom Rack and Designer Shoe Warehouse opening in that space, completing phase 1. Phase 2 will begin within that time frame.
Last year the old Winrock 6 MovieTheatre was demolished, making space for Dave and Buster’s.
“Being here has turned out to be everything we could have hoped for,” says Marcus Wuerschmidt, the general manager of the Dave & Busters at Winrock, which opened in November. “Business has met our expectations—we’re busy all the time.”
The northwest corner of the Winrock site will feature extensive residential construction, with up to 250 units to be constructed there, in the form of a four-story upscale apartment complex to be constructed near Indian School Road and Pennsylvania St NE.
