After the summers of the last three years, people involved in British tourism have been growing ever more concerned that the wet, rainy weather will drive people away. However, for those operating in Cornwall it seems that there’s nothing to worry about.
West Cornwall Cottage Holidays, the premier holiday letting agency in West Cornwall, conducted a survey of all of its Cornwall cottages customers in 2009. Among the questions was one which asked them to choose the main reason they came to Cornwall.
The results are sure to make anybody looking ahead to the 2010 summer season happy, as only 10% of those surveyed chose sunny weather as the main reason they came to Cornwall. When asked why they chose Cornwall for their holiday destination, 98% said that they came to the area simply so they could be in Cornwall as they loved the area, the attractions available, and the things they could do there. One of the points that came up time and again was that Cornwall can cater to many different interests, so there really is something for all the family.
West Cornwall Cottage Holidays are extremely pleased with the results of their survey, believing it shows visitors remain confident in the area, and really demonstrates just how popular Cornwall is with holiday makers.
Other interesting figures are the 79% who are already planning to take another trip to Cornwall in 2010. It also looks like the battle between staycations and vacations may be over too, with both sides emerging victorious; 42% of those surveyed took both a holiday abroad and a holiday in the UK.
Whilst these figures are encouraging, and definitely some welcome good news to owners of holiday cottages in Cornwall, West Cornwall Cottage Holidays firmly believe that Cornwall can become an even more popular destination than it already is; all that it needs is a bit of promotion. There is already a wealth of people who know just what this county can offer, so the next task is spreading the message to those who are still unaware of what a gem the South West of England possesses.
Catering to visitors, both new and old, is what West Cornwall Cottage Holidays have been doing for over 22 years, so if anybody has the necessary expertise to lead this charge, it’s them.
