The Covid-19 pandemic had a huge impact on the construction industry in various ways. Construction companies were forced to adapt quickly to changing conditions and follow strict mandates that increased the challenges of navigating construction procedures and requirements.

In response to the mandate, Virtual Badge was able to provide a solution to guarantee the safety of the workers and to ensure the projects would be able to be completed without the risk of Jobsite closings, fines, and construction delays, amongst other possible problems, due to Covid cases within the construction sites.

With well-thought-out, adaptable technology, Virtual Badge generated temporary badges tailored to each company’s specific needs to ensure all COVID-19 mandates were met by tracking and validating badges for each of their workers.

These mandates include screening each worker on all construction sites ahead of their arrival for any symptoms of COVID-19, reducing the total number of employees working on each construction site — which means tracking each worker’s schedule — and keeping tabs on each person who enters or leaves the construction site.

The virtual badges allow each company to track and validate its personnel. With an easy-to-follow onboarding process, workers can watch a video on how to download the application and the steps to request their badge application.

Each application requires the person to upload a picture of themselves, a photo of their government ID, and fill various COVID-19 waiver forms, including liability and providing a statement ensuring they possess no symptoms. Virtual Badge can even be used to track COVID-19 PCR testing as well as vaccination statuses.

All badges can be approved or denied remotely by the contractor to ensure all the workers have their required badge before the beginning of the project. Once their badges are approved, a supervisor can scan each badge, checking the person in for the day, as well as checking out once they leave, providing a time-stamped report on who entered the construction site.

As of January 2021, there were no COVID-19 induced shut downs on construction sites where the badges were used. Virtual Badge makes it easier to pinpoint any potential COVID cases within their site with the tracking the badges provide. Effortlessly providing all the information needed to prevent spreading the virus, ensuring the safety of the workers, and continuing the project without further issues is what Virtual Badge is excited to bring to the table with this new update!
