VA Claims Insider, which helps veterans file for fair disability compensation, is hosting their Second Annual 22 to Zero campaign in conjunction with the Stop Soldier Suicide initiative.
The 22 to Zero campaign is named for the 22 veteran suicides that occur on average each day in the U.S., and VA Claims Insider wants to help bring that number down. The fundraiser runs from November 11 to December 3. Contributors are invited to donate, fundraise, and/or do the following to honor veterans:
- Complete a 22 mile bike, run, or hike
- Complete a 2.2 mile swim
- Do 22 pushups daily
- Write 22 thank you cards or letters to active-duty service members or veterans
- Write and share 22 posts on social media to bring awareness to the #22toZero mission
VA Claims Insider was born out of a deep empathy for the plight of struggling veterans. Prior to founding the company, Brian Reese, a former Air Force Officer who served a combat tour in Afghanistan supporting Operation Enduring Freedom, found himself inundated with PTSD, anxiety, and depression while battling alcoholism and an eating disorder. He now helps other veterans get the VA disability payments they are entitled to to overcome their own physical and mental pain. In the process, he has helped create one of the largest online support communities for military veterans.
“My desire to help other veterans gave me a reason to fight on, and I have found my purpose in supporting veterans through VA Claims Insider,” said Reese. “We are honored to put our support behind the Stop Soldier Suicide organization through our 22 to Zero campaign. It gives people a chance to show solidarity with veterans, either through physical feats, actions of gratitude, and monetary gifts.”
Like VA Claims Insider, Stop Soldier Suicide is veteran-founded and operated. With military suicides at a staggering high (57% higher than the national average), Stop Soldier Suicide meets at-risk individuals where they are. They provided a full range of services under one roof, including mental health support, housing assistance, and education and training.
“We’ve already seen a huge outpouring of support for 22 to Zero from our community of veterans and military families, and we’re excited about the momentum that will continue to build through December 3,” said Reese.
VA Claims Insider estimates that 80% of veterans are not receiving the disability payments that they are legally, morally, ethically, and medically entitled to. The company provides education-based membership programs for veterans, helping them navigate the often complex disability claims process and connecting them to a supportive community of veterans in the process. To date, they have helped more than 20,000 veterans increase their VA disability ratings by an average of 30%.
