Utah’s Renaissance Ranch Addiction Treatment Center Offers Free Family Classes

When people are in the grasp of addiction, their family members may feel alone and helpless. To provide critical support, a Christian-based treatment center for men is offering free online and in-person classes for family members of people in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction.

Founded in 2001, Renaissance Ranch provides faith-based inpatient, outpatient, and online addiction recovery programs for adult males, including trauma-informed therapy, residential detox, and lifetime alumni and aftercare. The Ranch’s family education classes are offered by addiction treatment specialists who have personal experiences with the recovery process. The classes are complimentary and open to anyone over 18, regardless of whether they have a family member enrolled at the Ranch.

Renaissance Ranch recognizes that addiction affects the whole family, not just the addicted member, as these addictions often reveal negative emotions and thought patterns that can cripple family relationships. Therapy and support can help family members repair those damaged relationships and strengthen recovery for their loved one in treatment.

Family classes are offered four times a week for spouses, parents and others. They offer hope through recovery resources and effective solutions. Renaissance also offers quarterly webinars and a podcast series for families. Starting next week, they will launch a pornography couples support group.

Dixon joined the staff at the 3-acre sober living facility in Bluffdale, Utah, after witnessing how the program transformed the life of his brother, Tyson Dixon, who now serves as the C.E.O of Renaissance Ranch. The Ranch is a deeply personal endeavor for the Dixon family, as they have experienced first-hand the ravages of addiction and how it can tear families apart. Tyson and Preston were both addicted to drugs before they turned their lives around and, along with their parents, purchased Renaissance Ranch. Preston and Tyson have been in recovery since 2006.

Preston said that long-term sobriety hinges on family members understanding recovery principles. “Family education classes provide the tools for a loved one to become a more effective and healthy support person, which will reduce relational ‘triggers’ that often contribute to cravings and perpetuate the cycle of addiction in the addict. The best thing we can do for an addicted loved one is to work on our own recovery from enabling, persecuting, and suffering codependent behaviors.”
