Script Design Workshop Offers Los Angeles Designers Letterform Development With Digital Tools Taught By Creative Director Leah Faust
Los Angeles, CA (PRUnderground) September 5th, 2014
TypeEd, the Los Angeles-based program of typography courses for the creative community, is equipping designers with the skills to attract and retain reader attention. In an upcoming workshop called “Scriptology”, students will explore the warmth and personality of script lettering and learn about aspects of anatomy, geometry and calligraphy. Designers will learn how implement proper scale, color, letterspacing and stroke weight management of letterforms. The first eight-hour workshop introduced will take place on October 11, 2014 at Gensler in downtown Los Angeles, California.
Leah Faust specializes in concept development and brand experience for food, beverage and specialty goods. Her illustrious career has included brand development for La Brea Bakery, Bolzano’s, and TAO. “I want to encourage patience and repetitive practice for those students who want to continue developing letterforms. Custom type is a desirable skill that pairs with magazine editorial design, branding, fine art and illustration,” says Faust.
The cost for professional designers is $150 or $125 for educators and current college students. Pre-registration ends October 9 and is required before attending.
Participants must have a basic understanding of letterform anatomy before enrolling and encompass basic Adobe Illustrator skills, or have taken the Type 1 Class offered at TypeEd. Participants must bring a laptop computer with Adobe Illustrator installed. For more information, or to register for the Scriptology workshop, visit https://type-ed.com/events/scriptology101114/
