Since its designation as a Certified Autism Center
In addition to ongoing training, certification and support from IBCCES, the credentialing organization that bestows the CAC
Since earning the CAC
“It’s so nice to gain a better understanding of how to help accommodate visitors to give a better experience for families and autistic individuals,” said Ali Marquart, team member. “The certification has really strengthened our positive workplace culture and personal connections with guests.”
IBCCES recognized that many autistic adults and families with autistic children have limited travel and recreation options where they feel safe and welcomed. In response to this need, IBCCES created training and certification programs specifically for attractions, hotels, zoos, aquariums, and other recreational locations. IBCCES is the only credentialing organization providing this type of certification, which includes evidence-based training from experts as well as the perspectives of autistic individuals, alongside other tools and resources such as onsite reviews and customized recommendations. The certification also has renewal requirements to ensure the program is a long-term commitment that has a lasting impact.
“We’re excited to continue our partnership with Turkey Hill Experience, the team is truly committed to serving their autistic guests in the best way possible,” said Myron Pincomb, IBCCES Board Chairman.
Turkey Hill Experience is also located near two other Certified Autism Centers
As part of Turkey Hill Experience’s commitment to guest safety, visit availability is based on temporarily reduced capacity, temperatures are taken at the door, and masks must be worn to cover mouth and nose. Peak visitation is Memorial Day-Labor Day, Saturdays year round and major holidays. The attraction also offers unlimited ice cream sampling (call ahead for the list of flavors to make choosing time easier).
