The overwhelming majority of modern classrooms now make use of projectors. They enable teachers to easily showcase information to large classes. However replacing projector lamps when they expire can be expensive. Due to this we have included our top tips to help you to preserve the lifetime of your projector lamps.
- Test the lamp shortly after purchase: run the projector for a solid 20 hours after purchase, if a lamp is going to fail early on, it usually happens in the first 10 hours of operation.
- Inverted or non-inverted projectors: typically inverted projectors have shorter lamp life times than their non-inverted equivalents.
- Do not move or vibrate the lamp when it is hot: simply put hot lamps are fragile. Due to this the appliance of shock or vibration to hot lamps may case the filament to break. In order to avoid this you should wait for the lamp to completely cool down before moving it.
- Place the projector lamp housing properly: when installing your projector lamp, take the time to ensure that the lamp housing is properly seated. To secure the lamp placement, gently apply pressure to the base of the housing.
