It’s next to impossible to not be completely impressed by the drive, passion, and sense of community that radiates from Author, Artist, and Pro Wheelchair Motorcross Athlete Tony Torres Vanga. Tony currently pours most of his energy into ASF Adaptive Sports, a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to promote responsibility and goodwill throughout the community through the platform of action sports. Through ASF Adaptive Sports Tony coaches and mentors aspiring wheelchair athletes, along with still competing himself. Aspiring to help kids with disabilities in all aspects of their lives, physical, mental, and spiritual, Tony recently announced the release of the second edition of his children’s chapter book, “Jimmy Wheelz and the Minilights”, which is built around an amazing, positive message and showcases a courageous role model for kids in wheelchairs or with other disabilities.
“When things push you down, don’t quit! Get up and push back harder,” commented the clearly passionate author and athlete. “’Jimmy Wheelz and the Minilights’ carries this message to kids who need to hear it the most. Once anyone masters getting in that mindset, no matter their physical challenges, they can make magic and exceed expectations.”
According to Tony, “Jimmy Wheelz and the Minilights” tells the story of Jimmy Whelsner a middle school who unexpectedly becomes ill from conditions surrounding his birth defect, spina bifida. After being admitted to Front View Hospital, three magical little creatures: the Minilights come to help Jimmy and the adventure begins.
The 2nd edition of the book is now available both on Amazon.com and at Tony’s official website. Special perks are available when ordering directly from the website, including special discounted packages of multiple copies for educators, coaches, and other community activists.
When not writing or drawing, Tony Torres passionately enjoys participating in WCMX, organizing community events, and mentoring the next generation of action sports athletes in this brave new world.
