Times Ticking Expands Vintage Watch Repair Services to Commemorate National Watch Day

Industry: Fashion & Accessories

With National Watch Day approaching on June 19, a Utah-based watch repair shop has extended its services to vintage watches that are no longer eligible for factory repairs because parts are so hard to find.

June 19 marks National Watch Day, which honors the functionality, style, and history of watches. Times Ticking is commemorating the day by announcing expanded repair services for vintage watches that are often turned away by factories and private shops.

Times Ticking opened in Northern Utah nearly 40 years ago to offer repairs for local watch owners. Over the years, the company’s team of Swiss-trained technicians have found a niche in breathing new life into vintage watches and clocks. As their reputation has grown, they have become a go-to source for mail order repairs for patrons around the world.

“It’s not unusual for us to get repair orders in from Japan, South Africa, or Denmark,” said Seth Thompson of Times Ticking. “We have a reputation for being willing to take on the most difficult repairs.”

With the advent of National Watch Day, Times Ticking is announcing vintage watch repair for Timex, Bulova, Accutron, Wittnauer, and Caravelle. Though watch owners would normally be able to return their timepiece to the factory for a quick fix, these companies no longer service watches over a certain age.

“Many of these companies have been making watches for over 100 years, but if you send in one of their watches from over a few decades ago, you’re likely to get turned away because the factory doesn’t want to bother with sourcing old parts,” said Thompson.

Thompson said that he is excited to be launching even more watch repair options starting with National Watch Day. “It’s fair to say that the sky will be the limit thanks to this latest expansion of our services. We have an extensive network of suppliers who can get us most any part that we need, and we have the patience and know-how to fix virtually any watch.”

Times Ticking coined the motto “if it ticks, we know it” and is proud to support the rich history of the watchmaking industry by keeping watches from the past alive and functioning.

“When people throw out their old watches because they stop working, we lose a piece of the past. We want people to know that there are options for keeping these watches alive rather than just replacing them with a new watch that may not have the same level of character or craftsmanship,” said Thompson.

National Watch Day was pioneered by Nordstrom in 2017 to preserve the legacy of watches in the face of smart phone technology. To learn more about Times Ticking and their expanded vintage watch repair services, visit www.TimesTicking.com or call (801) 991-1097.
