Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (SBTS), the most trusted name in theological education, will be using Akademos to provide the seminary’s more than 5,000 students access to a convenient online bookstore and course materials platform. Southern is one of the largest seminaries in the world, and it is committed to offering students a deeper, richer, and stronger educational experience. Enhancing the bookstore with Akademos technology will optimize the dedicated on-campus store in an online setting.

The bookstore is an integral part of campus life at SBTS. The staff provides every student who walks through the door with the products, events, and services that are needed to not only succeed, but to have an exceptional educational experience. The benefits the bookstore staff produces for the campus year-round are a vital component to the seminary’s commitment to training, educating, and preparing ministers for service. With so many invaluable responsibilities in the operation of the campus bookstore, SBTS decided to have a trusted technology partner to help alleviate the tedious management of a course materials program that would free the staff to focus on the parts – and people – that matter.

“We are excited to provide students at Southern Seminary and Boyce College with great buying options for their textbooks and utilize Akademos’ technology to allow professors to more easily submit their required material,” said Jacob Percy, manager of the Bookstore at Southern.”

The Akademos platform combines adoptions, low-cost course material fulfillment, reporting, and analytics technology. The integrated course materials platform will support SBTS students with online access to a wide selection of low-cost material options including new, used, rental, digital, course packs, and a 100+ million title Marketplace. Additionally, free shipping is available on all retail orders of new and used books over $49.

“We know how vital the bookstore is to the campus community,” said Raj Kaji, CEO, Akademos, “and how much value every staff member at the bookstore brings to students and faculty on a daily basis. We’re excited to integrate our software into the SBTS operation to help serve and support the institution’s enduring commitment to being trusted for truth.”
