The Med Life is announcing the launch of its live interactive medical simulation app on iOS and Android. The app allows users to participate in live simulations alongside a physician, and interact by pushing medications and recommending treatment protocol. Users can download the free app in order to learn about medicine, and users can follow The Med Life @seethemedlife on IG, TikTok and YouTube.
CEO Dr. Adam Goodcoff says he co-founded The Med Life along with COO Josh Opitz in 2019, with a mission to inspire people interested in or studying medicine. The Med Life initially launched with Goodcoff and Opitz creating educational YouTube videos designed to inform and inspire medical students and share insight into the medical field.
The Med Life has since expanded to connect more users with the world of healthcare across all social media platforms, particularly at this time when global COVID-19 restrictions have limited in-person learning. Offering a highly unique balance of education and entertainment, The Med Life brings medicine and social media together. Goodcoff has garnered more than 1.5 million followers across TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. The Med Life gets more than 50 million impressions each month.
“We created this platform to give students from high school all the way up through nursing and physician assistant training an extension of what they’re doing in the classroom,” Goodcoff says, “This is medical simulation for everyone.”
App users can view The Med Life live on YouTube and participate as Goodcoff utilizes more than 15 different ECG rhythms, including a heart rate monitor, adjustable oxygen saturation monitor, arterial blood pressure monitor, capnography, and variable respiratory rate during the simulation scenario. “The app shows the doctor’s adjustments right on people’s phones,” Opitz says, “And then they use the app’s live polling feature to vote on which medications to administer and next steps of treatment.” Users then get live feedback from the physician.
“Online classes are lecture-based, which means without The Med Life, students are missing out on the hands-on component of treating patients and handling emergencies.” Goodcoff says, “This is where students can come to test their knowledge and supplement what they’re learning in class.”
Currently a resident physician in emergency medicine, Goodcoff says he’s always had a tremendous passion for education. “I did a teaching fellowship and extended medical school by one year to complete that,” he says, “Educating and motivating people in the health care space was simply an opportunity I had to capitalize on.”
The Med Life has collaborated with brands including KIND Snacks, BoardVitals, Sunbeam, Freshly, MassMutual, UnitedHealth, and Barco Scrubs, and been featured on NBC, CNET, Newsweek, Yahoo! Business, and US World News.
