The Low Histamine Chef launches Low Histamine Diet & Diamine Oxidase Support Recipe Book
Industry: Health & Fitness
A low histamine cookbook for histaminosis/histamine intolerance/mastocytosis sufferers looking for a natural alternative or holistic adjunct to anti-histamine therapy.
London, England (PRUnderground) August 29th, 2012
The Low Histamine Chef’s low histamine diet recipe book offers those diagnosed with histaminosis/histamine intolerance, mastocytosis and other mast cell activation disorders, a natural alternative or adjunct to anti-histamine therapy. The role of the low histamine diet in histamine related disorders is commonly overlooked in the US and Canada but European doctors long prescribed diet modification (with or without anti histamines). More than being just low histamine, the Low Histamine Chef’s recipes are high in the nutrients necessary for Diamine Oxidase production.
What is histaminosis/histamine intolerance?
Histaminosis/histamine intolerance is characterised by high histamine and low diamine oxidase (DAO).
What is DAO?
Diamine Oxidase is the main histamine degrading enzyme in the body. Low DAO means that we are unable to metabolise histamine in the body.
Symptoms
While histamine is necessary for proper brain/CNS, digestive, reproductive function, an excess can cause a number of troubling symptoms including:
Mystery allergies with negative IgE tests, chronic migraines, IBS, recurrent cystitis with negative culture (or Interstitial cystitis), dizziness, nausea, brain fog and rashes. Additionally, because of histamine’s involvement as a neurotransmitter and it’s role in regulating serotonin and dopamine, excess histamine is increasingly thought to mimic anxiety disorder as well as uni and bi-polar depression (manic depression), while a lack of histamine is suspected to play a part in schizophrenia. Histamine also controls the body’s sleep cycle (cicadian rythm) and as such can cause insomnia (a lack can cause narcolepsy), as well as regulating appetite and metabolism.

“This book is a life saver for me. I can’t cook and being on low-histamine diet meant that I ate tasteless meals. The book completely changed my life. The recipes are so simple and so delicious! Now people at work always look at my lunch in a jealous way and can’t believe how much I eat and stay skinny. But the truth is that what they eat is not healthy and full of calories but my meals are packed with vitamins and few calories.” MM, UK.
