The Ghost Cop is Damon Norko’s full-length companion piece to the innovative genre-blending novel, The Ghost Writer, which introduced the concept of the first ghosts — those individuals that science has enabled to live on beyond their physical life spans. Yet immortality is not all its cracked up to be, as Norko’s ghosts often find out . . .
From The Ghost Cop:
From inside an old sycamore tree that grew next to Quinn’s window, Thad watched the night come alive with crackling cicadas and furtive creatures that darted through the underbrush on secret survival missions, keenly observed from above by owls and hawks, for whom the landscape was a vast smorgasbord. Every once in a while the moon’s shadow would be blotted out by a swooping attack, and a small animal, transfixed by terror, would take its final ride high above the rows of peaceful suburban dwellings, which slumbered on, silent and indifferent. Sometimes, on those frosty springtime evenings, when the nights were just chilly enough to keep the families snug inside their beds, Thad forgot that the world had chugged on without him, for it seemed that he was always going to be up here, in this tree, watching over his son . . .
It’s not easy being a ghost. Especially when you have a wife and kid and you are trying to hold down a job.
Thad Springer is a “ghost cop” who investigates paranormal activities committed by fellow ghosts. In the course of his latest case, which also involves his precocious young son, he may have uncovered the secrets of the universe.
Unfortunately, Thad’s employer, the dynastic Orpheum Corporation, has other plans for them. Yet in its haste to control man’s destiny, the corporation may have overlooked some fundamental truths.
Follow Thad as he unravels the plot and finds out more about himself, his son, his wife, and what it is about life that is really worth living.
The Ghost Cop is a science fiction epic that takes the reader as far outward as it does inward.
(This novel is a companion piece to The Ghost Writer, but ownership of the previous book is not a prerequisite.)
