The noted New York jazz singer and artist Svetlana will release her popular album “Night at the Movies” in a limited edition LP featuring the best tracks from this chart-topping record. The release is scheduled for April 17, 2021 to celebrate World Record Store Day that is held annually on the third Saturday in April.
Svetlana Schmulyian, known professionally as Svetlana, is a Russian-American jazz singer, artist, educator, and composer based in New York. She is also the leader of the critically acclaimed swing band The Delancey Five. Svetlana earned her master’s degree from Manhattan School of Music (MSM) and her Ph.D. degree from Columbia University. She started her artistic career in 2011 after reaching success as a management consultant and associate professor at her alma mater. Since 2017, Svetlana has been touring with her bands, headlining sold-out shows in many renowned performing arts centers and jazz clubs in the United States (DC Jazz Festival, Jazz Standard, RegattaBar, Blue Note Jazz Festival, etc.) and abroad (Canada’s Jazz Bistro, India’s Total Environment Foundation, Italian Rovigo Jazz Festival, Jerusalem Jazz Globus Festival, Tel Aviv Blues Festival, etc.).
Svetlana’s sound is a perfect mix of straight-ahead jazz, swing, and original material, which allows the artist to keep a strong connection with her audience fascinated by her engaging storytelling, charismatic and improvisational performance style, and strong vocals. “Night at the Movies” is Svetlana’s latest record that debuted #1 on 2019 US Billboard Traditional Jazz Album Charts and #2 on Jazz Album Charts. The chart-topping album will also have an LP music release with the most popular tracks.
The limited edition “Night at the Movies” LP features a fabulous collection of film music from near and far. These include Moonlight from the 1995 romantic comedy-drama film “Sabrina,” Pure Imagination from the 1971 musical fantasy film “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory,” No One’s Home from the 1975 Russian romantic comedy film “Irony of Fate,” It Might Be You from the 1982 romantic comedy film “Tootsie,” Remember Me from the 2017 computer-animated fantasy film “Coco,” and more. The songs are performed by Svetlana and feature the famous American jazz trombonist Wycliffe Gordon, jazz pianist Sullivan Fortner, and other jazz music stars of today. The limited edition LP is created by the best producers and engineers in the industry, including Grammy Award-winning Gil Goldstein and Matt Pierson.
