As CEO and Co-founder of StartUp Health, Steven has led the charge toward innovation by direct involvement with the companies that are fostering an environment of change throughout the healthcare spectrum. The companies that Steve guides through the early stages of development in StartUp Health have gone on to achieve great things. And StartUp Health has also embarked on a strategy of focusing on “Moonshots” or in other words, game changing challenges that require long term dedication and vision to accomplish.

When Steven was interviewed by Fortune Magazine, he said, “There are two camps: those that are startup friendly, batteries included, energy-providing, idea-providing, helping the entrepreneurs figure out how to get their ideas — or product or prototype — to the market. Then there’s a whole camp of resisters; people that are ‘batteries not included.’ They take away all of the momentum of the ideas or concepts of the companies.”

He went on to say “There’s an intense amount of patience needed to be an entrepreneur in general, and in health care even more so,” Steven said. “You need to think of it as a five to 10 year minimum kind of initiative. You might get lucky, you might get taken out, you might IPO, but the reality is that it’s going to take a long time.”

In 2011, StartUp Health launched its mission to transform health by organizing and investing in a global army of thousands of entrepreneurs passionate about reinventing the future of health.

Today, StartUp Health has assembled the world’s largest community of Healthcare Transformers and built a worldwide network of over 30,000 innovators, industry leaders and investors committed to supporting the entrepreneurs reimagining health and wellness.
