He was responsible for numerous high-profile projects, including completing the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center, the restoration of the U.S. Capitol Dome, the renewal of the Cannon House Office Building and a new co-generation system at the Capitol Power Plant, among many others. In addition, he developed and implemented programs to reduce energy-use-intensity by more than 35 percent, saving millions of dollars.

He served as chairman of the Board for the National Institute of Building Sciences, the Construction Users Roundtable and the Construction Management Association of America.
