Speedy Registrations Are Even Faster Thanks to New Export Rules

The rules for importing a vehicle to Northern Ireland from the rest of the UK changed last year, which has resulted in the process being a lot simpler, and that has had benefits for Speedy Registrations.

Before the change, if you wanted to bring a vehicle from England to Northern Ireland, you would have to apply to DVLA Swansea for an Export Certificate and once you had received this, you would then need to fill out a V55/1 and a V10 Tax application form, then forward all of that to Coleraine along with an MOT certificate, a cheque for Road Tax, a document confirming your name and another document confirming your address. It would only be after all of this that you received your new V5C. On top of all of this, if you wanted a refund on your tax disc, you would have to send that back to Swansea. This was the route that had to be taken if you wanted to get an Irish number plate on your car.

Needless to say, the process wasn’t easy, simple or fast. Thankfully, this has now changed and all that needs to be done is to fill out section 6 on the GB V5C vehicle registration certificate and send it, along with your MOT certificate, V10 Tax Application Form, GB Road Tax Disc and Insurance Certificate, to Coleraine. Then, you are issued with a new Road Tax disc and V5C.

What this means to Speedy Registrations and all of their customers is that transferring an Irish number plate to a vehicle elsewhere in the UK now takes far less time. There’s no need to wait around for the export certificate to turn up. Which means that when you buy one of Speedy Registrations’ Irish number plates you’ll be able to get it on your car and show it off far more quickly!
