Skin Grip, a company which manufactures adhesive tape and patches for diabetic sensors, has announced that they will award 20 high school seniors or undergraduate students with $1,000 scholarships.

The scholarship follows the company’s ongoing effort to be involved in a broader community of people with Type I diabetes. In the past, Skin Grip has collaborated with Instagram influencers and fitness coaches to promote their products and “live fearless” lifestyle.

To receive the scholarship, interested students must upload a video up to two minutes long and describe how they live fearlessly with diabetes. Additionally, they must be a high school senior or an undergraduate student attending a two or four-year degree program. The Skin Grip T1D Scholarship will be awarded to individuals who fight to make their own lives and the world around them better despite their diagnosis. More information on the scholarship is available on Skin Grip’s website devoted to their tape for diabetic sensors.

Skin Grip believes that people with Type I diabetes are capable of living extraordinary lives. Isaac Parkinson, president of Skin Grip says that the company’s aim is to “help diabetics play hard and sleep soundly,” citing concerns about lost sensors and dealing with insurance as two stressors the company tries to eliminate. By creating adhesive patches for Freestyle Libre, Omnipod, or Dexcom G6, Skin Grip keeps those devices in place through vigorous exercise routines, water sports, nighttime tossing and turning, showers, and more, preventing unnecessary stress for their owners.

Skin Grip estimates that it has saved more than 200,000 sensors and $15 million for its customers. Now the company is attempting to give back to the Type I community through a combination of product partnerships and charity. In addition to the new scholarship, Skin Grip donates 100% of its website profits to charity on the 11th day of each month, a program it calls A11 for 1.

Applications for Skin Grip’s scholarship must be submitted by March 2, 2022. Winners will be announced on March 31. More information on the company’s products and ethos can be found at www.SkinGrip.com.
