The charity educational project STEM is FEM conducted the 10th free educational module on tech specialties for Ukrainian girls. The anniversary module was dedicated to one of the most relevant disciplines during the viral pandemic – pharmacology. The initiator of STEM is FEM, the founder of the GenIT company Sergey Tokarev told us about the event:

‘For two days, experienced specialists in this field were introducing the girls to the basics of pharmacology: held online tours of pharmacological manufacture, described specialties that exist in this area, explained how to prepare to successfully enter a university and become a pharmacologist, as well as revealed the challenges the pharmacology faces today.’

The module ended with a creative competition. Veronika Podlesnova from Dnipro was chosen as a winner. As a gift, the girl received a professional microscope that will help her implement her scientific ideas.

‘Thanks to various lectures, life stories of the speakers and excursions, I’ve got a comprehensive impression of pharmacology. For me, the most interesting topic was bioinformatics. I believe that this area is available to everyone, regardless of gender. Moreover, now there are no professions in pharmacology that require significant physical effort,’ said Veronika Podlesnova.

The second place was shared by three participants: Zlata Okhrimenko from Kyiv, Daria Fedorova from the Zaporizhzhia region, and Kateryna Kalinichenko from Boryspil. Each of the finalists has received a free subscription to online educational courses.

STEM is FEM is a charitable educational project aimed to promote tech specialties among Ukrainian schoolgirls. As part of the project, the organizers conduct free educational events on technical and general educational topics.
