If you’ve recently driven past a construction jobsite, you may have noticed blue flashing lights. What you likely saw was one of the mobile surveillance camera units installed by SentraCam. These units are part of a new generation in high-tech security and surveillance for the construction industry.
SentraCam, an advanced security camera monitoring service provider, is focused on helping construction companies protect their equipment from vandalism and theft. The service combines electronic detection with live remote monitoring.
“Construction companies leave thousands of dollars in heavy equipment and materials out in the open for potential vandalism, damage and theft,” said Trent Giffin, president of SentraCam. “Our technology-assisted solution can actively monitor any jobsite for a fraction of the cost of on-site security guards.”
SentraCam’s mobile units are equipped with wireless high-definition cameras, loudspeakers and those flashing blue lights that serve as an additional crime deterrent. The units don’t require external power sources like gas generators and, instead, use solar power and batteries.
Here’s how it works: If someone enters the established perimeter, the advanced movement analytics system is triggered and a remote guard located in the SentraCam Command Center is immediately notified. The guard can intervene through the use of amplified loudspeakers. If the intruder refuses to leave the property, the SentraCam security staff will contact the authorities.
In addition to real-time security, construction clients can use the surveillance units to communicate with employees and monitor their work through the use of the SentraCam mobile app. The cameras can also record a company’s progress over time with time-lapse photography. The resulting videos can be used for marketing, sales and training.
