Across the U.S. construction of senior housing is on the rise, providing new construction jobs.  This includes assisted living and independent living facilities, with assisted living demands greater.  The Baby Boomers are expected in coming years to increase these numbers even more.

Albuquerque is no exception, with a new three-story, 180,000 square foot, 130 unit “Coronado Villa” senior living facility planned near the intersection of I-25 and San Antonio Dr. NE.  Another Albuquerque project is the two-story, $10 million Morning Star Senior Living asssisted living facility on Paseo Del Norte Bouleard, just east of Wyoming.

The trend is not just local.

“In fact, it is going on all around the country,” says Chris McGraw, a senior research analyst with the National Investment Center for the Seniors Housing & Care Industry, otherwise known as NIC, in Annapolis, Maryland.
