Featuring an international cast of 17 remote artists, San Francisco teen Kabir McNeely released Blue Girl (November 6, 2020 at 5:00 am), a short production which emphasizes the importance of peer acceptance in a young person’s journey to self acceptance.
McNeely publicly came out in 2020 in a Letter to the Editor for his hometown newspaper. When producing Blue Girl, he drew from his personal experience as a young queer student.
Kabir McNeely’s Blue Girl features a diverse cast of performers led by Bella Murphy as an emotionally reserved student longing for acceptance. Joining Murphy is Adele Rudnick as a homophobic bully, Jamie Uhtof as a teacher dedicated to creating a safe environment, Ana-Claire Henley as a supportive classmate, and Bay Area actor and director Kabir McNeely as a disappointed friend. The supporting cast also includes Celeste Caseria, Lussi Salmela, Maeve Tuma, Ari Khavin, and Olivia Hobbs.
Rounding out the cast are 7 talented young actors who portray Katie’s (Bella Murphy) classmates. They are: Courtney McDanald, Sarah Sevak, Massina Commesso, Vanesa Ferizoli, Emilia Wagner, Safia Ait Hmidane, and Daisy Donaldson.
