Roadside Rescue to Provide Towing Services for Tooele County Fair’s Demolition Derby

Demolition Derby is a fan favorite at Utah’s Tooele County Fair, but the show can’t go on without the expert towing services of Roadside Rescue. The Salt Lake City-area towing company will have trucks ready at the August 5 event, waiting to remove defunct cars from the competition area.
Tooele’s annual Demolition Derby is sponsored by Tooele County and billed as “the hardest hitting derby in the state.” It begins at 7 p.m. at Desert Peak Complex and will feature drivers from all over the U.S. colliding into competitors. Roadside Rescue will work hard to clear the pit, towing junked cars like they do for their day job until just one victorious vehicle is left running.
The event features a four-man Whiplash class team show, 80’s wire heat competitions (for both youth and adults), and a power wheels competition for youngsters. Competitors will vie for more than $40.000 in prize money.
“This event is legendary in Tooele County,” said James Fullmer, president of Roadside Rescue. “It brings the community together for some friendly competition. The cars take on personalities as they battle with all the horsepower they have. It’s a celebration of perseverance.”
Most of the cars in the pit are destined for scrap, but not until they duke it out in a pit with flying mud and revving engines. In most areas of life, destruction is frowned upon, but at the Demolition Derby, people get to witness it playing out before their eyes to the satisfying beat of crashing iron — and it’s all legal.
