Power2Change Foundation to have major involvement in Texas Rangers MLB Youth Academy in West Dallas

Bonita Springs, FL (PRUnderground) June 19th, 2017

The Power2Change Foundation today announced a major partnership with The Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation to enhance the lives of area youth at the new Texas Rangers Major League Baseball Youth Academy at Mercy Street presented by Toyota.

The announcement was made by The Texas Rangers Foundation and Power2Change Foundation officials during a Monday Play Ball event at the Rangers MLB Youth Academy. The Power2Change Foundation is focused on creating a movement of leadership that inspires middle school youth to develop positive lifelong learning habits in academics, athletics and life.

The state-of-the-art facility located in West Dallas provides children across North Texas with a place to play baseball and softball. In addition to providing year-round baseball and softball instruction, the Academy hosts tournaments, coaching clinics, and skills camps.

It also gives young students access to tutoring programs, college prep classes, college and career fairs, financial literacy and internship programs, and MLB industry alternative career workshops. Over 750 youth participate in the Mercy Street program.

“With almost 40% of families with children in this area living in poverty, we wanted to do something,” said Power2Change Foundation President, Keith Stone. “Partnering with the Texas Rangers Foundation to create a space for kids to play, learn, and grow is a great place to start. We look forward to working with the Youth Academy to positively impact the lives of kids.”

“The Texas Rangers and our Baseball Foundation are honored to have the Power2Change Foundation become a partner at the Rangers MLB Youth Academy,” said Rangers Vice President of Community Outreach and Foundation Executive Director Karin Morris. “The Power2Change Foundation has had a profound influence on the lives of so many young people during the last two years, and we look forward to working with them to continue that impact at the Rangers MLB Youth Academy.”

Four of the five fields at the Youth Academy opened in late 2016 and are already in use constantly for a variety of baseball and softball camps, clinics, and games. The Oates Field presented by Papa John’s and the 38,000 square foot Globe Life Indoor Training Center will open in the fall of 2017.
