Patricia Daly-Lipe selected as Author of the Decade by IAOTP

Patricia Daly-Lipe is an Award-Winning Author, known as the “Literary Lady”.  She was chosen as the Author of the Decade by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP) for her creativity, longevity and dedication to the literary world.

Inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in itself, only 1 Male and 1 Female Author are selected for this distinction. Patricia is widely recognized as a successful artist, educator, entrepreneur, and over 20 years as a published and award-winning author in the literary industry.  She has proven herself as a woman of enormous scope, invigorating wisdom and is a dynamic, results-driven leader.  Patricia has demonstrated success as an award-winning author, writing 10 books of all different genres, presenting on numerous subjects to large crowded audiences. She hopes her book ‘A Cruel Calm, Paris Between the Wars’ might be considered for a movie. Her son Johnson Daly is writing the screenplay.

Before Patricia began her prosperous career, she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy at Vassar College and a Bachelier en Philosophie Thomiste from the Université Catholique de Louvain (Belgium) in the mid-1960’s. After another year living in Rome, Italy, where she met her only living relative on her mother’s side, Msgr. William Hemmick. Her book, PATRIOT PRIEST tells her great uncle’s story which she did not know until she researched years later. (When the first World War broke out, he felt committed to help the troops. After the war, he was proclaimed the Patriot Priest of Picardy by the Army and Navy. After years spent in Paris, William Hemmick was asked by the Vatican to come to Rome. Ultimately, he became the only American Canon of St. Peter’s Representing the Knights of Malta to the Holy See.)

When Patricia returned to the United States, she earned her PhD in Humanities specializing in Creative Arts and Communication.

Patricia has written for the Evening Star Newspaper in Washington, DC, the Beach and Bay Press including La Jolla Village News in California, and The Georgetowner and Uptowner Newspapers in Washington, DC as well as several magazines across the country.

Her presentations have covered all aspects of writing for literary groups as well as colleges and universities. With inspiration from the history of her ancestors and encouragement from author and television host Richard Lederer, Patricia Daly, now Daly-Lipe, took her pen and paper and wrote her first book “Myth, Magic, and Metaphor, A Journey into the Heart of Creativity’. Patricia states that it wasn’t her original plan to be a writer; rather her “literary career unfolded through the incitements and requests of others.”

Throughout her notable career, Patricia Daly-Lipe has been recognized globally for her outstanding leadership and commitment to the literary world.  She has received numerous awards, accolades and has been featured in many magazines and publications. The Special Achievement Award was presented to Patricia Daly-Lipe for participation in the 2009 “Golden Nib” Contest, and an award of second place in poetry for “A Poetic Meditation”. In 2010, Patricia was recognized as a VIP in the Cambridge Who’s Who. In 2013, Virginia Writers Club Summer Shorts Contest presented Patricia with first place for non-fiction contest. Her entry was titled: Journey into the Heart of Creativity. In April of 2014, Patricia was a speaker at the Annual Maryland Writers Conference. Her presentation was ‘Personal perspective in fiction and non-fiction.’ In 2016 Patricia was selected as Top Author of the Year with the International Association of Top Professionals and was presented with the crystal desk piece at IAOTP’s Annual Awards gala held at the Garden City Hotel. She also had a 4-page spread in the September 2016 Issue of Haymarket Lifestyle Magazine. In 2018, she was featured in TIP (Top Industry Professionals) Magazine. Selected as an Empowered Woman in 2019, Patricia was chosen as the Author of the Decade for 2021 by IAOTP.

In addition to her thriving career, Patricia is a sought-after speaker and is very much involved with her community. She also rescues Thoroughbred horses. She once raised and raced thoroughbreds (winning at Santa Anita, Hollywood Park, Golden Gate, and Del Mar) and rode and won in the hunter and jumper divisions at California horse shows. Now her granddaughter, Locke Motley, is winning at the horse shows. Two of her rescued horses who insisted on coming with her and her husband when they moved to Florida,“wrote” a book, ‘HORSE TALES, Teddy and Just’n Come to an Understanding’ which she “translated”.

Patricia is the past President of the National League of American Pen Women-La Jolla Branch, and the recipient of the 2004 Woman of Achievement Award from the NLAPW-La Jolla. She was also President of the Washington, DC Branch of NLAPW during the years 2006-2008. In 2007, Patricia was speaker for the National Capital District 36 Toastmasters, 2007 Spring Conference. Her presentation was titled ‘The Power of Words’.

Her books have gained recognition across the country and are award winners. ‘La Jolla, A Celebration of Its Past,‘ published by Sunbelt Publications, was the Winner of the San Diego Books Awards in 2002. (It can now be purchased directly from Patricia at www.literarylady.com.) ‘A Cruel Calm, Paris Between the Wars‘ (1st edition: ‘Forbidden Loves’), won the 1st Runner-Up for Fiction JADA Trophy and the USABookNews.com Finalist Award and won FIRST place in the 2013 Royal Dragonfly Book Awards in the category Historical Fiction.

In her personal life, after years as a single parent of three children, Patricia married her first boyfriend from La Jolla, California, Steele Lipe, M.D.  Dr. Lipe has been her rock, best friend and soul mate for the last 23 years.  She said he was not only a brilliant anesthesiologist who specialized in neo-natal and cardiac surgery, but now retired, he also is very handy in construction and engineering and, as an advocate for alternate sources of energy, he installed solar panels on the roof of their home.  Dr. Steele Lipe, who once worked with CCI dogs (Canine Companions for Independence) has also helped Patricia tend to her horses and dogs. Patricia states that Steele is also great editor and has worked with her on many of her books, especially her recently released book published by Arcadia/The History Press: ‘Historic Tales of La Jolla.’

The couple now live in Florida where Patricia wrote and published her horses’ book in Dec. 2018. In 2020, Patricia completed a new book titled, ‘Miami’s Yester’Years’ (published by Legacy Book Publishing) which tells the early history of Florida and Miami’s founding and her grandfather, Locke Tiffin Highleyman’s participation in its development. He created Palm Island, Hibiscus Island, Point View, worked on the Tamiami Trail, and so much more, all in the early 1900s.
