Packer’s Pine believes in helping people stay clean the natural way with their pine-based soap, body wash, and shampoo. They also believe in helping others in need, which is why they donated $28,255 worth of pine tar soap to help Ukrainians fleeing their country for safety from the Russian invasion.

“Our hearts go out to all of these refugees,” said David Zelken, Packer’s Pine President. “We can only imagine how difficult it is to be without the comforts of home as they relocate, and we hope our donation can help them feel refreshed on their journey and know that American companies are rooting for them.”

The company’s pine scented soap will be distributed through Global Empowerment Mission (GEM). GEM works to restore “hope and opportunity in the lives of those most affected by disasters.” They have supported missions in 28 countries throughout the world, helping not just with disaster first response but also ongoing sustainable development.

GEM has been in Ukraine since day two of the crisis there, delivering aid and supplying housing to refugees in several bordering countries. They have already helped more than 30,000 refugees relocate in the wake of the invasion.

Packer’s Pine is the original maker of pine-based products, which are now sold around the world. Their legacy of nature-based personal care products started in 1869 with Daniel Packer of Mystic, CT. After journeying to California to take part in the Gold Rush, Packer discovered the therapeutic powers of pine tar and pine oil. Upon returning to Connecticut, he combined them into his proprietary soap bars.

Over 150 years later, those soap bars, along with more recently developed pine tar shampoo and body wash, continue to avail users of the benefits of pine tar and oil. These include moisturizing properties that help with psoriasis, eczema, and dandruff as well as natural repellent properties that help drive away mosquitoes, chiggers, and other pests without harmful chemicals.

Packer’s Pine is notorious for their charitable giving. In addition to working with the Global Empowerment Mission, they help fund the tree planting campaign of the National Forest Foundation, an organization dedicated to restoring and enhancing national forests and grasslands. They also give generously to One Tree Planted, an organization that has planted over 40 million trees worldwide since 2014.
