Showplace Luxury Art Design Vintage, or simply Showplace, is one of the best places for art and design lovers in New York. Since 1993, it has been home to many prominent galleries and dealers specializing in fine and decorative art, vintage, antiques, mid-century modern furniture, lighting, fashion, and an array of other valuable and collectible pieces ranging in design and style. Showplace also holds auctions twice a month, offering unique and rare items that are hard to find anywhere else. One such auction will be held this Sunday, July 25.
The top lot of the upcoming New York City Estate Auction by Showplace is “Landscape at Sunset,” an oil on academy board painting by the prominent American landscape painter Sanford Robinson Gifford. The artwork depicts a beautiful river landscape at sunset in the Hudson River School tradition. It is estimated at $4,000-6,000.
Among other notable fine art pieces featured at New York City Estate Auction are Andre Eugene Dauchez’s oil on panel painting “Le Moulin De Pendreff” (pictured), Reiji Kimura’s mixed media artwork “#263,” Leonardo Nierman’s abstract acrylic painting, Allen Tucker’s impasto oil on canvas painting “Autumn,” and Karl Schrag’s expressionist mixed media floral landscape.
Other interesting lots presented by Showplace include William DeMatteo’s sterling silver five-piece tea service, a pair of Liceu De Artes e Oficios Brazilian modern lounge chairs, a Japanese gouache on paper four-panel folding screen with a floral motif, and a Louis XVI brass and mahogany bureau plat writing table with inlaid Neoclassical details, among others. The auction also features a fabulous selection of gold and diamond jewelry, including antique Russian 14k rose gold diamond cufflinks, Faberge 14k gold and ruby Maltese cross egg pendant, and a vintage 14k yellow gold and lapis lazuli hinged bangle bracelet decorated with diamonds.
All of the items featured at this and other estate auctions conducted by Showplace can be previewed at 40 West 25th Street, Wednesday through Sunday, 10am – 6pm. The auction itself will start on July 25, 12pm EDT.
