New Haven Learning Centre is now a Certified Autism Center (CAC), designated by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES). To become a CAC requires at least 80% of client-facing staff to complete a professional training and certification program specific to serving autistic individuals or those with sensory needs. The certification also requires renewal every 2 years and additional professional development in those areas.

As a non-profit organization, New Haven’s mission is to provide school-based services and treatment programming tailored to each client’s needs, based on ongoing assessment, and personalized data collection. New Haven has adapted and implemented a variety of new service models and has vast experience in program innovation that encourages a diversity of clientele to thrive.

“Coordination, implementation, and program integration within the province’s existing OAP framework and Ontario’s private school sector, drives New Haven’s efforts and IBCCES accreditation solidifies our investment in quality programming. In addition, evaluation and measures of success contribute to the critical sustainability and informed decision-making that influence our social service sector and substantially contribute to the autism and related disability community”, notes Sandra Hughes, Executive Director of New Haven Learning Centre.

“IBCCES is thrilled to work with New Haven Learning Centre to build on their team’s expertise and help them continue to serve their clients at the highest level,” said Myron Pincomb, IBCCES Board Chairman.

For more than 20 years, IBCCES has been the industry leader in cognitive disorder training and certification for education, healthcare, and corporate professionals around the globe. IBCCES provides evidence-based training and certification programs created in conjunction with clinical experts and autistic individuals in order to provide professionals serving individuals with cognitive disorders a better understanding of what these disorders are, industry best practices, and the latest research in these areas.

IBCCES also created CertifiedAutismCenter.com, as a free online resource for parents that lists certified locations and professionals. Each organization listed on the site has met Certified Autism Center (CAC) requirements. New Haven has now joined that list.
