Retail deals site surveys Brits and finds them more romantic than expected

Online voucher codes specialist DiscountVouchers.co.uk has announced new research which demonstrates that UK shoppers are content to spend money to get what they want in love. The offers website has polled site users who have revealed that 40% of them consider that there is “no price on love” when it comes to buying an engagement ring for a loved one.
DiscountVouchers.co.uk helps UK shoppers to save at more than 800 top stores, and the research conducted this week by the voucher code site also revealed that 11% of consumers still think that an engagement ring should cost double a man’s monthly salary – while another 30% reported that they would spend up to £500 on an engagement ring.
Treating a loved one remains popular in new relationships – 57% go out when in a new partnership and 46% receive flowers. Furthermore 25% are given the gift of jewellery and another 20% get spoiled by being taken away for a romantic break. However only 5% of people confessed that they are treated to new underwear by a new partner.
When eating out, going Dutch remains popular with 65% of people still happy to split a restaurant tab 50/50. To help make a good impression on a first date, 75% buy themselves a new outfit while 67% comment that they never order the priciest meal in a restaurant even if it should be their favourite dish.
Getting dumped for being considered mean in a relationship is not that likely, with only 25% saying they would dump someone for being stingy. A further 37% however said that a partner’s generosity or lack of does not impact their feelings for a person.
Debt was covered in the love survey too, with 42% of people content to take on a new overdraft if they thought it would impress a potential partner. Also 94% of men commented that they would not expect their wife-to-be’s family fund an entire wedding.
