Beyond Search introduces a weekly video news program “HonkinNews.” The stories cover major developments in search, online, and content processing. The presenter is Stephen E Arnold, author of CyberOSINT: Next Generation Information Access and publisher of the Beyond Search blog at www.arnoldit.com/wordpress.
Each week’s seven-minute program includes the latest and often controversial developments from industry-leading companies like Google, IBM, and Microsoft. In addition, the program covers important but often overlooked news about disruptive vendors like Palantir Technologies, Elastic, and OpenText. Important funding events such as In-Q-Tel’s support for Zoomdata and search innovators like Dr. Michael Lynch (Autonomy, Dark Trace, and Luminence) garner coverage.
Stephen E Arnold said:
Coverage of information access is inconsistent. Many important developments are ignored by mainstream media. Specialized vendors like Digital Shadows and Terbium Labs provides services which are of little interest to library- and information professional-centric publications. A brief weekly video news program provides an opportunity to present important information and inject some humor into the otherwise dry and dusty business of navigating online resources. HonkinNews provides a combination of facts and critical analysis.
HonkinNews is available on YouTube and via the Beyond Search blog. New programs are available every Tuesday. Programs run between six to eight minutes. The program originates in Harrod’s Creek, Kentucky. Beyond Search exploits the image of Kentucky as a rural backwater with music from the 1920s, glimpses of farm animals, and biting observations from a well-known industry analyst.
