Both Mo Williams and Jermaine O’Neal will co-direct the next generation of elite basketball club players at the new Drive Nation Sports Complex, scheduled to open at the DFW Airport in late September.
“I’m very excited to announce the acquisition of one of the country’s best youth basketball organizations in “RM5″. I’m also thrilled to bring Mo Williams on board to work along side me. Mo brings unique insight, tremendous experience and incredible knowledge of the game of basketball and an understanding of what it takes to win, develop and get student athletes to the next level.” said O’Neal.
Maurice “Mo” Williams spent 13 seasons in the National Basketball League (NBA) and was selected as an NBA All-Star in 2009. He won an NBA championship with the Cavaliers in 2016.Throughout his career, Mo has played for the Milwaukee Bucks, Los Angeles Clippers, Portland Trail Blazers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Charlotte Hornets and Cleveland Cavaliers.
“Having played at the highest level, I am glad to have the opportunity to work with Jermaine under his Total Player Development philosophy. It is a role that will allow me give back to the game. Like, Jermaine, I have young children who love the game, we have made Dallas our home, and want to impact the lives of players in our community, creating a new brand of elite basketball in Texas.” said Williams.
The Nike RM5 program has competed on Nike’s EYBL circuit and is recognized as a powerhouse program that will continue to compete both regionally and nationally under the Drive Nation banner.
“My goal for Drive Nation Sports is to bring in the best talent, at every level, to help develop the “complete athlete” both on and off the court. The goal is to ultimately give players an opportunity to compete at the next level — be that college or the pros.We want to be the top amateur sports brand in the country, creating a best-in-class environment that’s focused on developing players and educating parents about what it takes to be a successful, well-rounded athlete” said O’Neal.
