Model Launcher CEO Bill Mansfield Staniford Addresses the Question: “Is Model Launcher a Scam?”

The prospect of pursuing a career in modeling without industry experience or connections is a daunting task. There is a lot at stake and we have spent years figuring out the psychology behind it all. Yes, It’s the nature of the business, and it’s exactly this unattainable and paranoid culture that we at MODELLAUNCHER are trying to change. My own mother, a nationally published model, had her share of bad experiences during her modeling career. I remember her complaints about models being treated like disposable commodities by their agents. Armed with this inside knowledge, I wanted to develop an idea that would make entering the modeling world safer and more transparent. The concept was to integrate a cosmetics company with an online modeling competition website powered by social media. The journey has proven difficult, educational, and rewarding. Not surprisingly we have also attracted our share of critics who feel threatened by our arrival. To those who doubt our integrity, we seek to clarify some common misconceptions with the following facts.

MODELLAUNCHER is an international cosmetics company driven by the marketing activities our registered users perform to earn their spot in a beauty campaign. Our products are professional-grade quality and made in the United States. We test all of our products with professional makeup artists, stylists, photographers, and models out of our South Beach studio. Our contests are free and our cosmetics are affordable to all consumers. Contest winners are chosen by our judges from the top four finalists. These winners are flown to Miami Beach for a professional photo shoot at no cost to them. We know this promise sounds too good to be true and some contestants and affiliates have even gone so far as to accuse MODELLAUNCHER of trying to prey on aspiring models. However, we continue to host a variety of colorful contests and deliver the “MODELLAUNCHER Experience” roughly every week. Just ask some of our winners; MODELLAUNCHER alumni include Brandi Vicks from Project Runway, Elizabeth Bujans who walked in Berlin Fashion Week 2014, and Katarzyna Lukaszczuk who was featured in Inside-Poland.

It is important to us that MODELLAUNCHER is not perceived as a modeling agency or a school. The studio branch of the company allows us to award pro-quality images and professional experience that all models need. Furthermore, all of the images used by MODELLAUNCHER are either produced in-house or purchased through iStock. We have and always will support the efforts of models, photographers and other artists within the fashion sphere.
