Loofy is announcing the release of his newest music single, Blackman, now available on all digital platforms. The song is a play on Batman, and presents the Black man as the hero. The Blackman video is available at https://youtu.be/uMIetvB7TX0.
Loofy is an independent artist under his own label, The Winners. Also known as Winner Loofy, he says it’s important for his audience to understand the theme of a Black man standing tall, particularly in the face of the world’s current social, economic, and political climate.
“Batman is one of the strongest superheroes,” he says, “And similarly, the Black man can use his strong, loud voice to play his part in this world today, because we are not going backwards into shackles and slavery. We’re only moving forward on the continued path to freedom.”
Loofy adds that slavery is also a psychological state of being, particularly when Black people don’t speak up. “We should not be silenced,” he says, “The more we speak, the more we free ourselves.”
Loofy, who is African-born and raised, moved to the United Kingdom at the age of 13. A creative since birth, Loofy studied performing arts at the undergraduate level and scored a triple distinction in the field. “Music and the arts have always been at the forefront of my ethos,” he says, “I am continually developing and perfecting my craft, absorbing the diaspora from dancehall to Afrobeats.” Some of Loofy’s musical influences are Burna Boy, Wiz Kid, Kojo Funds, and Tyga.
Next on the horizon is Loofy’s E.P., 7.83, scheduled for release in early 2021. “This will have a bit of something for everyone,” he says, “It’s centered on positive vibrations, tuning into high frequencies of life such as dance, love, emotion, and success.”
