Levi Metheny is honored to support Athletes for CARE (A4C) in his donation and advocacy for the nonprofit’s mission and values. A4C seeks to empower athletes by promoting research and education on global health issues athletes face. The organization is led by a community of athletes finding mutual support and compassion, as well as opportunities and a purpose in life after their sports career has ended.

“I am delighted to support Athletes for CARE in providing a community for athletes around the world,” says Metheny, a former linebacker at the University of Albany football team. “As an athlete myself, I see the vital importance of addressing our mental and physical health, and A4C continues to deliver in all aspects.”

A4C partners with leading research teams to develop solutions to help athletes facing physical and mental health issues during and after their careers. Dr. Daniel Zimmet partnered with A4C to create the Athlete Transition Study (ATS), a research survey that studies the experience of retired collegiate, professional and Olympic athletes, with a special emphasis on football players. ATS seeks to understand the retirement outcomes and which interventions and support systems are used to determine their overall quality of life.

Levi Metheny attended the University at Albany where he earned his bachelors degree in Marketing and Management, was a three-year starter, and was named FCS Pre-Season All-American. He then went on to continue his education and received an MBA from Murray State University while completing his last season of football.

Mr. Metheny also won the CAA All-Conference award and participated in volunteer initiatives through the school. When he was not on the field as a linebacker, he was supporting the teams volunteer initiatives which included reading to elementary students and serving in local food pantries and soup kitchens.
