KTSC officially launched in Singapore on 31 August, with 13 Korean startups that are part of the pilot batch presenting their businesses on a demo day in conjunction with the opening ceremony. During this period, the startups attended the KTSC Tourism Boot Camp which included business masterclasses and networking opportunities with major players in the region’s travel industry across the government and private sectors.

KTSC is riding the momentum from the connections and inroads they have laid since their launch by bringing 17 Korean travel tech startups from their program to Singapore.

Mr. Jang Min Jun, Deputy Director of KTO Singapore, who is in charge of KTSC believes that giving their startups more exposure in these events helps to build an intimate understanding of Singapore’s travel industry. “These events give our startups a chance to examine the ecosystem of the travel industry in our region. We are looking forward to making new connections, and exploring business synergies to be part of the driving force in this space.”

Some of KTSC’s startups attending the events are already making their mark in the local travel industry. Startups like NUUA which officially launched on 14 October, hold the distinction of being Singapore Airlines’ (SIA) first South Korean travel technology partner (aggregator), offering AI-powered solutions. While others like Globaleur have been in talks with Changi Airport Group (CAG) to implement their dynamic travel content which currently covers 200 cities and over 125,000 destinations around the world.

“I’m proud to be part of KTSC’s first batch of startups, and I am glad to see Singapore take such an active stance in welcoming tech companies from around the world. The travel industry is coming back in a big way, and I’m excited about the opportunity to have deeper conversations with local travel industry leaders to discuss close collaborations in the future.” Says John Lee, CEO of H20 Hospitality. H20 Hospitality currently has 160 employees in South Korea, Japan, Thailand, and Vietnam. The startup is setting its sights on being a tech unicorn after closing its Series C round at USD 30m in Q3 of 2021.
