Karim Camara, founder of Camara Strategies, Commits to Returning as Head Coach, Brooklyn EXCEL

Karim Camara has committed to returning as Head Coach Brooklyn EXCEL Basketball- 2016 Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Championship competitors- for the 2016/17 season. Under the leadership and guidance of Camara, the Brooklyn EXCEL AAU team earned a berth to the AAU National Championships (Clarksville, TN) in their very first year. Camara, plans on working hard to both replicate the basketball results of last year and focus even more on teaching leadership skills.

Camara, who also recently started a new consultancy, said that there will be greatly synergy between two seemingly separate entities: a consulting start-up and a basletballl program. He detailed thart the vision of Camara Strategies International is to prioritize youth reaching their potential as much as it prioritizes servicing adults and businesses, specifically to teach them leadership skills that will be valuable for them both in their professional and personal life. Basketball is a sport that requires from its players all the qualities of a good leader e.g. working as a team player, disciplined and thinking under pressure.

At EXCEL Basketball is taught in its holistic essence. Rather than a focus on just winning, every child gets to learn the fundamentals of the game and also to extract valuable lessons of discipline, leadership, sportsmanship and composure. These fundamentals go a long way in these children’s life and eventually contribute to the making of good and responsible citizens. EXCEL’s vision is to make basketball a fun to learn and play sport and that objective is never lost in the training.

(A Double-Goal Coach strives to win while also pursuing the more important goal of life lessons through sports.)
