People are experiencing depression, anxiety, and sleep deprivation because they have a fear of missing our (FMO) and they need to be available 24/7 according to research conducted by Dr. Talaei-Khoei.

Dr. Talaei-Khoei believes social media platforms with all promising values that have provided to the human society, but they have addicted us to problem called Fear of Missing Out (FMO). FMO puts individuals into depression, decrease their quality of life and also their quality of sleep. Talaei-Khoei thinks that the feeling that there are things on our social media that we are missing out can create risks for not only individual users but also for us as a society. It is commonly believed that FMO also impacts on the performance when individuals are at work.

Dr. Amir Talaei-Khoei points out although there has been several advantages and benefits for the use of social media, we must consider the limitations for ourselves. The social media does not provide any risk to us by itself but it does create situations that might be harmful for our psychological mindset if we don’t use it properly.
