Top Under-19 men’s soccer teams from Germany, Mexico and the United States will converge on Southern California this summer for the inaugural International SilverLakes Cup. Up-and-coming stars from Bundesliga (Germany) clubs Borussia Dortmund, Hertha BSC Berlin and VFB Stuttgart of Germany will face their aspiring counterparts from Liga MX (Mexico) clubs Club Atlas and Club Tijuana and Major League Soccer clubs (United States) LA Galaxy, San Jose Earthquakes and Real Salt Lake.
The tournament will run from July 25-29, 2018, with all games being played on the pristine fields of the 132-acre SilverLakes Sports Complex in Norco, California. The complex features 24 full-size soccer fields as well as a host of amenities and comforts for players, families and fans alike, including a state-of-the-art restaurant and bar with a beautiful outdoor banquet and entertainment venue.
The eight participating teams will be divided into two groups of four teams each. The teams will then play four matches with three group stage contests being held on July 25, 26 and 28 before placement matches are played on July 29, culminating with the two group winners facing off for the title of International SilverLakes Cup 2018 Champions. All matches will be played on the stadium field and admission is FREE. All teams are scheduled to train at SilverLakes, July 24 at 2:30 p.m.
The tournament schedule is constructed to give teams the opportunity to compete, as well as socialize and enjoy Southern California, creating a truly memorable experience for all the players. From post-match barbeques and entertainment, to beach front banquets, the International SilverLakes Cup will ensure that everyone will have a lifetime of stories to tell about the week. Additionally, players from all eight teams will reside on the campus of the nearby University of California – Irvine. There, staff and players will have access to campus facilities and meals alongside their fellow players.
