Spring pollens have plenty of people going crazy, but they can do the same thing to dogs, too. Like humans, dogs are prone to seasonal allergies. While steroids, antihistamines, and other medications may help pets feel better in the short term, Pallergy oral drops can help reteach their immune system to stop reacting to allergens in the environment, leading to long-term relief.
Dr. Stuart Agren developed the Pallergy drops to avoid the problems associated with other pet allergy treatments.
“Antihistamines often provide only spotty relief, steroids can cause long-term health problems, and topical creams have to be applied over and over again or the symptoms return,” said Dr. Agren. “The drops do not just address the symptoms-they treat the actual allergic disease which is causing the symptoms.”
Allergy drops are a newer form of immunotherapy than allergy shots, but Dr. Agren said drops are much more pet-friendly than shots.
“Not only do they work well, they’re very easy to administer,” said Dr. Agren. “Pet owners simply pump them into their pet’s mouth.”
Injections can be much harder to give-especially when pets are skittish about shots.
Pallergy drops contain mixes of the most common allergens (from grass, trees, flowers, dust, mold, etc.) As the pet’s immune system is exposed to these allergens through the daily drops, it learns to “make peace” with them and stop overreacting to them in ways that lead to symptoms.
One of the most common symptoms of dog allergy is atopic dermatitis which leads dogs to itch compulsively and also to lick and chew their paws and fur. If untreated, atopic dermatitis can lead to moist, red skin patches known as “hot spots” that can become painful and infected.
Pallergy can be prescribed by veterinarians around the country for relief from atopic dermatitis. Most dogs experience relief within the first several weeks of treatment.
