People who take antiviral drugs against a herpes (HSV) infection can still infect their partners. (1) The CBCD reviews studies and recommends two natural remedies.

“Infected with the herpes virus (HSV-1 or HSV-2)? We recommend Novirin or Gene-Eden-VIR.” – Greg Bennett, CBCD
People who take antiviral drugs against a herpes virus (HSV-1 or HSV-2) infection still shed the virus, and therefore can infect their partners, even if they have no symptoms. Dr. Christine Johnston and her colleagues wrote that “Short episodes of genital (herpes virus) shedding occur frequently with antiviral therapy, even for high-dose regimens. These breakthrough episodes are typically (without symptoms), last several hours, and occur at much the same rate irrespective of antiviral dose.” (1) Dr. Johnston further noted that “Short bursts of subclinical (without symptoms) genital HSV reactivation are frequent, even during high-dose antiherpes therapy, and probably account for continued transmission of HSV during suppressive antiviral therapy. More potent antiviral therapy is needed to eliminate HSV transmission.” (1) In other words, the herpes virus hiding in nerve roots doesn’t sleep between outbreaks. Instead, it’s frequently seeping out! Dr. Johnston and her colleagues are from the Department of Medicine at the University of Washington in Seattle.
The CBCD therefore recommends that people infected with the herpes virus (HSV-2 and HSV-1) take Novirin or Gene-Eden-VIR. The formula of these natural antiviral products was tested by Hanan Polansky and Edan Itzkovitz from the CBCD in two clinical studies that followed FDA guidelines. The studies showed that the Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin formula is effective against the herpes simplex virus, and other viruses. The clinical studies were published in the peer reviewed, medical journal Pharmacology & Pharmacy, the first, in a special edition on Advances in Antiviral Drugs. Study authors wrote that, “individuals infected with the HSV … reported a safe decrease in their symptoms following treatment with Gene-Eden-VIR.” (2) The study authors also wrote that, “we observed a statistically significant decrease in the severity, duration, and frequency of symptoms.” (2)
Both products can be ordered online on the Novirin and Gene-Eden-VIR websites.
Novirin and Gene-Eden-VIR are natural antiviral dietary supplements. Their formula contains five natural ingredients: Selenium, Camellia Sinesis Extract, Quercetin, Cinnamomum Extract, and Licorice Extract. The first ingredient is a trace element, and the other four are plant extracts. Each ingredient and its dose was chosen through a scientific approach. Scientists at polyDNA, the company that invented and patented the formula, scanned thousands of scientific and medical papers published in various medical and scientific journals, and identified the safest and most effective natural ingredients against latent viruses. To date, Novirin and Gene-Eden-VIR are the only natural antiviral products on the market with published clinical studies that support their claims.
Dr. Van de Perre wrote that “Herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) causes life-long infection with episodic reactivation. For decades, antiviral drugs… have been used to treat or prevent frequent and painful episodes. One outstanding question about HSV is why transmission is not stopped by these suppressive treatments.” (3) Dr. Perre is from the University Hospital of Montpellier, France.
“There’s no cure for herpes infections. That’s because herpes viruses travel up nerves to take up latent form in the nerve root. Powerful anti-herpes drugs – prevent most outbreaks in most people. But they don’t eliminate virus hiding in nerve cells. One in 5 Americans and Europeans carries HSV-2, the virus that causes most cases of genital herpes; HSV-1 causes some cases.” (1) Painful symptoms can include blisters on or around the genitals or rectum.
In light of the above information, the CBCD recommends that individuals infected with the herpes virus (HSV-1 or HSV-2) take Novirin or Gene-Eden-VIR.

About CBCD
The Center for the Biology of Chronic Disease (https://www.cbcd.net) is a not-for-profit tax-exempt organization under section 501(c) 3 of the IRS tax code. The center’s mission is to advance the research on the biology of chronic disease and to accelerate the discovery of a cure for these diseases. The CBCD first published Dr. Hanan Polansky’s highly acclaimed “Purple” book, entitled “Microcompetition with Foreign DNA and the Origin of Chronic Disease” in 2003. In this book, he explains how foreign DNA fragments can cause many major diseases. The book has been read by more than 5,000 scientists around the world, and has been reviewed in more than 20 leading scientific journals. These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
