As if it wasn’t cool enough already, being able to fly a helicopter has gone even further up the list of dream jobs with Prince William working as a search and rescue pilot flying Sea King helicopters from RAF Valley in Anglesey. And this has been reflected by an increase in online visitors searching for helicopter lessons on leading activity gift voucher company Into the Blue’s website.
The Prince, who is engaged to be married to Kate Middleton on the 29th April, took his helicopter lessons and qualified in record time, allowing him to take to the skies in his chopper on daring rescue missions.
Those with their own dashing young prince who would love to experience a helicopter lesson, activity gift voucher company Into the Blue has a full roster of helicopter lessons on offer. Twenty minute trial lessons start at just £119 and there are helicopter schools all around the country, so whether they’re in Wales like the Prince, or nearer to his Grandma’s house in London, there’s a helicopter school near them.
For those budding heli pilots with a romantic side, opt for a lesson in a four seater chopper such as the renowned Robinson R44 craft. This means that you can join them in the helicopter for their lesson, sitting in the back seat of the chopper to enjoy the ride. Trial flights in four seater helis start at £165 for a 20 minute flight and they are available at selected locations across the UK.
And if they really get the hang of their helicopter lesson, Into the Blue also offers a “learn to fly a helicopter” course, which gives them a total of five hours of helicopter training, divided into five one hour lessons. Taking part in this package is an excellent introduction to being a pilot and it counts towards the PPL (H) full helicopter licence.
Caroline Face, website content editor for Into the Blue commented: “With the nation’s interest in the young Royals at an all-time high, we’ve seen that the visitor numbers on intotheblue.co.uk looking for helicopter lessons has gone up significantly since the announcement of the Royal wedding, making trial helicopter lessons one of our early favourite activity gift vouchers for 2011.”
Into the Blue offers trial helicopter lessons at 16 different helicopter flying schools across the UK. Vouchers are available for 20, 30 or 60 minutes at most venues and some offer helicopter lessons in four-seater craft, so a passenger can take part in the flight too. There are also five hour helicopter pilot pack lessons available too for those really passionate about chopper flying.
