Clearwater financial advisor jumps out of airplane at 14,000 feet to help raise money for Special Forces

CLEARWATER, Fla. (PRUnderground) July 2nd, 2021

Shon Flaharty, founder and CEO of Flaharty Asset Management, a Florida-based wealth management firm serving clients throughout the U.S. recently jumped out of an airplane at 14,000 feet while training with Green Berets to help raise money for The Special Forces Scholarship Fund.

The event took place in April at the 5th Annual VIP Trip benefiting the Special Forces Scholarship Fund at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, which is the home of the 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne).

Flaharty and 18 others were in attendance and helped raise $120,000 for both the Special Forces Foundation and Scholarship Funds.

The Special Forces Foundation offers programs that provide a wide range of support to the Special Forces community including operator and family support, tragedy assistance, survivor support and veteran support.

Participants at the event had the rare opportunity to jump out of a plane at 14,000 feet with the expert guidance of veteran Green Berets. Additionally, they were able to train on multiple firearms including the M50, 9MM and participate in sniper training. They also participated in extensive live training drills, which included room clearing and working with special forces canines, where combat readiness and the importance of teamwork were a common focus.

“It was amazing to say the least,” said Flaharty. “Our firm has always supported our veterans and active service members, but to be able to learn from the very best in the world and implement just a bit of their knowledge at our firm will surely go a long way for our team and ultimately our clients.”

According to Flaharty he was originally approached by retired Special Forces Lt. Col. Gary Bloomberg with the opportunity to attend the training.

“I literally jumped at the opportunity,” said Flaharty. “The men and women I had the privilege to train with are amazing Americans. I was truly blown away by their patriotism and what they risk every single day for the sake of our great country.”

Going forward Flaharty plans on attending every year and will be recruiting others to get involved.
