Ford installs its 4 millionth SYNC in-car system

Ford’s SYNC system is an integrated entertainment and technology system that is factory installed in many new Ford cars for sale. SYNC is a collaborative effort between both Ford’s own developers and many third party developers, using Microsoft driven software to run applications and programmes within the vehicle.

Introduced in 2007, the system has become more and more popular in recent years with many new applications being available to car and van drivers and with many more in development. Ford has just installed the four millionth system in one of their vehicles, showing just how popular the system has become in North America.

It is planned that SNYC will be officially released in Europe and India during 2012. With that in mind, the Ford Motor Company has suggested that well over 9 million vehicles could have the system installed by 2015.

There are many great uses for SYNC; it is not only an entertainment system. Just recently, Ford hit the headlines with their ambitious plans of collaboration with major healthcare technology companies to develop software that could help promote health and wellbeing.
