Fiona Davis, Educational Consultant for the People Development Command section of Victoria Police in Melbourne, Australia was recently selected as Female Visionary of the Year for 2022 by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP).

While inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in itself, only one man and one woman are selected as “Visionary of the Year.” These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, longevity in the field, other affiliations, contributions to their communities, and have given visionary leadership to their industry.  All honorees are invited to attend the IAOTP’s annual award gala at the end of this year for a night to honor their achievements.    www.iaotp.com/award-gala

Fiona was previously honoured as Educational Consultant of the Decade for 2020, she was inducted into IAOTP’s Hall of Fame and was honoured for her selection as Empowered Woman of the Year for 2019 at IAOTP’s Annual Awards Gala which was held at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas. Fiona also presented a gift to the President of IAOTP at the gala honouring her experience in the Army. She will receive this recognition on stage at the magnificent Plaza Hotel in New York City as the Female Visionary of the Year for 2022 and the beneficial impact she has created over the course of her entire professional career globally.

The President of IAOTP, Stephanie Cirami stated, “Choosing Fiona as our Female Visionary of the Year was a simple decision for our panel to make. She is innovative, extremely focused and passionate about her role as a visionary leader. Committed to her work she lends her expertise and uses her unique experiences to improve the lives of others. IAOTP is thrilled to be honoring her in this way and we are looking forward to celebrating all her success at the Annual Awards Gala this December.”

Fiona is being recognized as the Female Visionary of the Year for her creative advancements and her devotion to her profession. As a prominent Educational Consultant, Fiona joined Victoria Police in 2010. Her key responsibilities involve analyzing, designing and developing training programs for police recruits, detectives, crime scene officers and prosecutors. In 2019 she was working with the Police Air Wing on developing a training program for their Aircrewmen. She ensures that all training programs are compliant with national standards as Victoria Police is a Registered Training Organisation which means they can deliver nationally endorsed qualifications. She conducts continuous improvement audits, course evaluations, provides compliance advice, and develops educational processes and standardized document templates for all courses at the Police Academy to use.

Last year saw Fiona assist in preparing Victoria Police for an audit of their national qualifications. She was working particularly with prosecutors and detectives to ensure their courses and record keeping was audit ready. In 2021 with courses resuming it will be business as usual and catching up on work that was postponed.

First starting out as a primary school teacher for children for 10 years, Ms. Davis found a passion for education very quickly.  She joined the Australian Army and was involved in education and training development for 20 years.  A highlight of her Army career was to be deployed to East Timor for 9 months where, as part of her duties, she led and managed a small team of military and civilian educators to teach English to members of the East Timorese Army.

In 2020 when Fiona’s home state of Victoria went into lockdown in March, she still went to work each day at the Police Academy. She was able to do this even with all the Chief Health Officer’s restrictions as she was part of emergency services. As the lockdown progressed and police courses were cancelled, Fiona offered her services to the Army and returned to active service to assist her state during the crisis. When interviewed for our Tip Radio, Fiona said it was different being deployed to provide assistance in your own state. It was an honour and privilege to serve again. She did this from mid-Aug to end Nov, then returned to work with Victoria Police but from home as the situation had. Improved.

Ms. Davis maintains her connection to the Army by being an Army Reserve Officer and currently serves with the Australian Army History Unit as a Museum Manager. She also worked for the Directorate of Operations and Training Area Management by writing a training package for their Range Control Officers Course (these people manage Defence’s firing ranges Australia wide).

Fiona is dedicated to continuing her education.  She currently holds a Master of Professional Studies in Instructional Design, a Master of Professional Studies in Teaching ESL, a Bachelor of Education and diplomas in management and project management. She completed her studies for two further diplomas in 2017: one in Training Design and Development and the other in Vocational Education and Training.

Ms. Davis has belonged to professional organizations throughout her career and has been recognized globally for her hard work and accomplishments.  She is a member with the Australian Institute of Training and Development and Returned Servicemen’s League of Australia.  She was the recipient of the Australian Army Active Service Medal and the Australian Army Long Service Medal.  She was named Top VIP Member of Worldwide Branding in 2013 & 2014, selected as Top Female Professional for 2015 and featured in Pro-Files Magazine. She was also selected for the Worldwide Lifetime Achievement Award, featured in a chapter for the Top 101 Industry Expert publication, and has been named “Top Educational Consultant of the Year” by the International Association of Top Professionals for 2016.  For 2017 she was selected for the Top Female Executive Award by IAOTP and for 2018 graced the front cover of TIP (Top Industry Professionals) Magazine.  For 2019 she was selected not only for the Empowered Woman of the Year Award but also for the Humanitarian of the Year Award. Fiona was featured in Times Square on the famous Reuters building for her IAOTP recognition.

When not working, Fiona enjoys physical activity for her body and mind. She plays field hockey for a Melbourne club as well as master’s hockey, regularly runs, and walks their dog with her husband. Fiona makes jewelry and has an extensive collection of beads. She has been busy during 2020 making jewelry and is about to launch her business online. She also enjoys reading crime and adventure novels. Her favorite authors are Agatha Christie, Clive Cussler, Peter Temple and Dick Francis.

In late Dec 2019 she and her husband adopted a new dog from a pet rescue society. It’s a black and tan kelpie named Billy who’s now about 3 years old. He loves running and playing chasings. He loved the lockdown as he was able to stay inside with Dad 24/7 and the bed was his!

A highlight of 2019 was playing in her age group for Victoria in the Australian Women’s Masters Hockey Championship in October where the team won the silver medal. She was also runner up in her hockey clubs best and fairest award. Fiona hopes to return to hockey this year.
