Equity Residential Signs Nearly 7,000SF In Retail Leases At Potrero 1010

Industry: Real Estate

Internationally-renowned California College of the Arts and Trending Retailer, The Boba Guys, join new mixed-use rental apartment community in Showplace Square District.

San Francisco, CA (PRUnderground) June 2nd, 2016

Equity Residential kicks off retail leasing at Potrero 1010, the firm’s under construction rental apartment community in Showplace Square, with the signing of a long-term 6,000SF lease with internationally acclaimed California College of the Arts [CCA], and an 840SF lease with growing city favorite, The Boba Guys, announced Jim Kelly, First Vice President of Development with Equity Residential.

According to Kelly, “With Potrero 1010’s signature retail opportunities along the edges of one-acre Daggett Park, it is proving to be a high demand location. We look forward to sharing additional exciting retail and restaurant announcements in the near term.”

CCA’s new 6,000SF PDR or flex space at Potrero 1010 provides the prestigious art, design, architecture and writing school with much-needed gallery space for student exhibitions, screenings, and other events. According to David Meckel, CCA’s director of planning, “We are delighted to partner with Equity Residential on this project, which embodies our shared goal of creating a vibrant community in this part of San Francisco. The new gallery space will give the public access to the boundless creativity of our students and faculty.” Founded in 1907 by prominent art educator, Fredrick Meyer, CCA has campuses in San Francisco and Oakland, with an enrollment of approximately 1,500 undergraduates and 500 graduate students.

Providing much needed caffeine to those students, faculty and Potrero 1010 residents, will be the latest outpost of The Boba Guys. Famous for their ‘Next Level Quality’ bubble milk teas, The Boba Guys’ new 840SF outlet will be the gourmet tea purveyor’s first Boba Guys Nitro, the industry’s first teahouse to infuse their milk tea with nitrogen – in a process similar to nitro cold brewed coffee. According to co-founder Andrew Chau, “It’s different from regular milk tea, because it has the mouthfeel of beer – it’s airy and smooth since the cold brew process reduces the bitterness you get from tea tannins. With Boba Guys Nitro, we hope to change the landscape of boba milk tea again, just like we did in 2011 when we launched.”

Potrero 1010 features 453 contemporary apartment homes, 6,000 square feet of PDR space, and 20,000 square feet of neighborhood serving retail within two architecturally distinctive structures that are separated by the one-acre Daggett Park. Currently being developed by Equity Residential, Daggett Park will be turned over to the city upon completion, but will be managed by Equity Residential as an amenity for the entire community.

In addition to Potrero 1010, Equity Residential is currently under construction on two neighboring mixed-use multifamily projects: One Henry Adams and 855 Brannan. With completions expected in late 2016 and early 2017 respectively, both projects will bring additional commercial, retail and public spaces to the Showplace Square district.
