Driving Successful Lives, a Michigan-based national non-profit, recently facilitated a car donation to a new U.S. Postal Service employee.
A generous donation of a Pontiac Sunfire with only 49,000 miles was donated to Driving Successful Lives, a 501 (c) 3 that is on a mission of helping others in need of transportation, nationwide. “The donor insisted the car be moved urgently because she was tired of it being parked in her drive and wanted it gone and given to someone in need,” said a representative for DSL. “Targeting a recipient of the car donation began with a single-lined email to the charity stating- “I am in Iowa and I need a car for transportation to my job.”
“Driving Successful Lives realized this car was meant to be for the local woman who had fallen on rough times and needed a car so she could begin working at the local post office. Transportation was very vital for this deserving recipient, so the charity paid to have the vehicle transported to her,” added the rep. “To make sure that she would have effective and safe means of transportation, we also had the brakes replaced and a new battery installed for the grateful owner.”
“Acts of kindness, generosity and a devotion to humanity are what people should strive for on a daily basis” says the Director of the Driving Successful Lives. “When we open our hearts and give, we see amazing results and can often change the life of a person in an instant. Giving the car to a local woman who had the heart to reach out and ask was just the beginning of the meant to be donation.”
Driving Successful Lives also reports that some service providers have come forward to handle any additional mechanical work on the vehicle free of charge, showing their support for the Driving Successful Lives mission.
To date, Driving Successful Lives has been instrumental in processing viable cars from the donation program in order to make a difference in the lives of the people it serves, nationwide.
