Dr. Vartan Mardirossian Featured on Closer Weekly Discussing Plastic Surgery

Closer Weekly is a popular magazine that focuses on style, health, food, and parenting. In a recent issue on April 10, Samantha Faragalli chose to cover the amazing transformation of one of music’s most well-known celebrities: Smokey Robinson.

Despite being 77 years old, there’s no denying that the one and only Smokey Robinson looks at least 20 years younger. In the interview with Closer Weekly, Drs. Andrew Miller and Vartan Mardirossian examined photos and provided some insight into the most likely procedures behind the new look.

Smokey Robinson’s Updated Appearance

Dr. Andrew Miller noted that Smokey’s nose seemed thinner than in earlier photos, which would point toward a rhinoplasty surgery. What’s more, he noted that there were also some fillers involved, especially in his cheeks, because the hollows in his cheeks appear much fuller than they did even decades ago. Lastly, Dr. Miller suggests that Smokey had eyelid surgery to improve the youthful appearance. He notes the crease above each eye seems bigger and deeper than in previous years.

Dr. Mardirossian’s Assessment

Dr. Vartan Mardirossian also weighed in on Smokey’s appearance. Dr. Mardirossian noted that Smokey appears to have had Botox injections, especially to the forehead and around the eyes. He also suggested that part of Smokey’s newer, more youthful appearance may be the result of a brow lift, which adds youthfulness to the eye area, and an upper and lower blepharoplasty, which is the term used to describe a surgical procedure to remove sagginess and bags from the eyelids. Finally, Dr. Mardirossian pointed out that the fuller cheeks, likely the result of a filler, a more youthful neck, and straighter, whiter front teeth.

Smokey Robinson looks fantastic for a man of 77 years old, and his transformation just goes to show how far cosmetic surgery has come in the last few decades. Despite the extensive work he’s had done, the iconic musician’s appearance remains completely natural.
