Dr. Heather Brown Orthodontic is conducting a Women’s Wellness and Fitness Day on Saturday, October 20, 2018

In conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Dr. Heather Brown Orthodontic is conducting a Women’s Wellness and Fitness Day. The event will take place Saturday, October 20, 2018 at The Power Center located at 12401 S. Post Oak in Houston. Registration costs $20 and will start promptly at 8:00am. The registration fee includes breakfast provided by Chick-fil-A,, a Breast Cancer awareness T-shirt and a 45 minute fitness workout by Reggie C Fitness. The event will include guest speakers Judge Maria T. Jackson, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon Camille Cash, MD, The Rose Advocate Kim Roxie, and State Representative Shawn Thierry and honors breast cancer survivors Kandi Eastman, Dr. Jonita Reynolds, Julissa Duran, Crystal Brown, and Congresswoman Shelia Jackson Lee. All survivors in attendance will be recognized. Free vision, blood pressure and glucose screenings will be available on site. Attendees should wear athletic wear, bring water and a mat for the fitness workout. The event is not just tailored to bringing awareness about Breast Cancer but 100% of the proceeds will benefit Breast Cancer Organizations.

Meet the brains behind the event: Heather Brown D.D.S.

Dr. Heather Brown is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi. She received her Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from Meharry Medical College and received her specialist certificate in Orthodontics at Howard University where she graduated as Valedictorian of her class.

Considered one of Houston’s leading orthodontists, Dr. Heather Brown has outstanding community achievements that have not gone unrecognized. Most recently, she received the “Community Angel” award from the Houston Woman Magazine. Also in 2018, Dr. Brown was featured as the cover story of the nationally acclaimed, Orthodontic Products Magazine, highlighting her accomplishments in the community. She was also featured In the Houstonia Magazine as one of 10 Houston Women “Making It Happen” and a Top Dentist of 2018. She is a past recipient of the 100 Black Men Phenomenal Woman of The Year Award and has been named one of the 25 Most Beautiful Houstonians by HTexas Magazine. Dr. Brown received the Houston Citizens Chamber of Commerce 2012 Pinnacle Award and has been lauded as one of The Top 30 Most Influential Women of Houston. Her exceptional clinical skills have landed her in the top 1% of Invisalign Practitioners in the United States as an Invisalign Elite Provider.

Dr. Heather Brown – a pillar in the Community

Dr. Brown is a multi-faceted woman with a heart for helping others. She states her crowning achievement was when she founded and established the Houston Chapter of the Smile For A Lifetime Foundation, a national non-profit charitable organization that provides free orthodontic services to disadvantaged children. The chapter has donated over a quarter of a million dollars in services since its inception in 2012. After Hurricane Harvey devastated Houston in 2017, Dr. Brown and her staff worked tirelessly to launch a t-shirt and cap campaign to raise funds for families whose homes had been destroyed. And while Brown has done much to give back to the community, she has a strong passion to mentoring students. In an effort to help guide high school and college students in their career choices, Dr. Brown offers an annual summer internship program in her office. With no model to build on, Dr. Brown created, from scratch, a structured hands-on program where she mentors students interested in pursuing a career in dentistry. The Women’s Wellness and Fitness Day presented by Dr. Heather Brown Orthodontics is yet another example of Dr. Brown using her platform to step up her philanthropic efforts. This amazing event will educate, encourage, and empower women with the resources to fight Breast Cancer.
