Dodger’s Spanish voice Jaime Jarrin has been named 2017 Los Angeles Press Club’s Bill Rosendahl Public Service Awardee for Contributions to Civic Life.
Baseball Hall of Famer Jarrin has served as the Dodger’s Spanish language announcer since 1959. With the retirement of his mentor and friend Vin Scully, Jarrin is currently the dean of major league announcers.
Jarrin, originally from Ecuador, has been instrumental in building the Dodger’s popularity among the Latino Community.
More than 500 journalists and media executives will attend this prestigious event.
In addition to honoring Jaime Jarrin at the LAPC Gala Event, NBC News’ Andrea Mitchell will receive the Joseph M Quinn Award for Lifetime Achievement, CNN’s Jake Tapper will receive the Presidents Award for Impact on Media and Australian photojournalist Daniel Berehulak will be honored with the Daniel Pearl Award for Courage and Integrity in Journalism.
Proceeds from the Gala are the largest source of income for the Los Angeles Press Club a 501(c) 3 that speaks for journalists across all media platforms. All contributions are tax-deductible.
